St. Lucianus of Beauvais was a Bishop and a martyr in the early church. He was arrested by Roman Authorities along with his companions, Julian and Messianus. Under the order of Emperor Maximian, they were martyred in Gaul (modern Beauvais, France). During his reign, Emperor Maximian (r. 286-305) was a key figure in the Diocletian Persecution, the last and most severe persecutions of Christians in the Roman Empire. Along with Emperor Diocletian, Emperor Maximian issued edicts that targeted Christians and resulted in thousands of martyrs in the early church.
